Volunteerism and Web Work

Volunteerism and Web Work

Supporting Small Farms with Free Web Work

Ever wonder what it’s like to be a small farmer these days?  With agri-giants gobbling up the market place with their cookie-cutter mass produced products, you don’t have far to go and you will get an ear full.  These small farms are in your back yard, literally. They are on street corners and farmers markets across this nation, hawking their products proudly produced locally.  This nation has lost over 600,000 small farms in the past 20 years.

So what does all this have to do with volunteering and web work?   A lot, I assure you.  I grew up on a farm and know the struggles small farmers face just to put food on their own table, let alone yours.  Because of this national plight, I took up a cause called Farm 2 e-Market, a non-profit that provides free web advertising to all small farms.

What this gives them is a presence, traffic, customers and a larger voice than they had previously.  What it gives me (and my volunteers) is immeasurable.  I am proud to offer this service and even prouder of the farmers who continue doing what they love…feeding us.
